Typhoid Cloney [Jan. 10th, 2012|01:36 pm]

[Current Music |the blupblupblupping of my tum]

I've just spent the last 2 days mostly in bed a bit feverish, faint and immensely nauseous. Thankfully I wasn't sick. I'm never sick. If I'm sick I'm much iller than necessary - even norovirus only illicited the merest passing vom from me. But I had the other symptoms in such abundance that I was beginning to wish I could be sick to rid myself of all the acid that was building up. Think is was some sort of stomach 'flu passed on from Al to Mike, Helen and then me. By Sunday evening even my hands were aching. Sorry to anyone I've managed to pass it on to!

After a day without food a dry piece of toasted fluffy bread was amazingly tasty. When I finally ate properly last night, 48 hours after it my last proper food, it was spot on - the salt on the fries was like ambrosia from the gods. I like salt at the best of times but having expelled all my body salts over the previous 2 days I could feel my loops of Henle* cheering.

On the plus side I may have lost the xmas weight. On the negative side I'm super aware of every blupblupblup and twinge in my entire digestive system today and have a tendancy to get quite swimmy occasionally.

Watched the A-team on Sunday night - utterly ludicrous but quite enjoyable - next on the pile is the expendables. Also this weekend has consisted of a bit of retro gaming with me replaying Heroes of Might and Magic V - spiffy - I got a box set of the first 5 games so may replay them all (apart from 1 - that'd be a play not a replay) - I miss the ('Heroes of' + 1)('Might and Magic') series - I've spent a lot of my life playing the strategy game and the rpgs they made. I really love old skool RPGs *sigh*

* they're in your nephrons if I remember A-level biology correctly.

Had something like that in November that coincided with my employers muppet labs running round in circles trying to get a system out so I had to come in a couple of days. Missed a gig at the Hackney empire as I could have driven there but wouldn't have had the energy to drive back (fortunately the same act is now playing the Barbican in April). Any weight I lost as a result came back as I suspect most of it was due to an empty stomach.
The Expandables ? (A more suitable title given the state of the stars and Mickey Rourke seems to have gone the way of actors who have their careers rescued only to blow it again, the Motorcycle boy should have died)
No room for variety in computer games these days, rpgs have to be first person slashers with minimal puzzle elements or rocket propelled grenades.
Go see The Artist even if it's just for the dog !!!! (Kim Novak is just jealous of Uggys greater range of facial expression)

Ouch - hope you get over it quickly and totally.

Know what you mean about not being sick. Though in my case it's deliberate, I absolutely detest the idea of being sick and will use brute will power to make sure it does not happen. Enough force, applied for long enough, and whatever it is eventually goes the other way like its meant to. I suspect this isn't actually totally healthy and I should lighten up a bit!

But {{{*hugs*}}} for feeling poorly.

Btw I now have visions of Alistair in the female role from whatever movie it was where the girl gets infected with something that could wipe out millions and is slowing walking towards a cliff to throw herself off while the other protagonists are desperately trying to brew up a cure in a helicopter, or something like that - one of the early Mission Impossibles?

Reminds me of the unpleasantness I had before Christmas. I only threw up once, and that was because I was daft enough to try to eat on the first day. The, ahem, other symptoms lasted for about a week, gradually improving. It's an odd thing to celebrate being able to fart again. I am still getting the grumbles at times, especially since I seem to be unwell again this week for some reason (nothing bad). Still don't know whether the first one was a bug or food poisoning.

Hope it continues to improve quickly *gentle hugs*
